Prevention is the best medicine.
Dr. Weglos emphasizes preventive oral care, which is our patients’ best chance for continued mouth health and an attractive smile. It’s far easier and more pleasant to avoid restorative dental work when possible, and we recommend and provide the following measures:
Checkups – Regular six-month checkups can catch small problems before they become big ones.
Cleaning – Regular cleanings during semi-annual checkups provide a thorough removal of tartar deposits and placque buildup,
Fluoride – Fluoride helps prevent tooth decay by making teeth more resistant to acid attacks from plaque bacteria and sugar, as well as reversing early decay. It also helps speed remineralization, while disrupting acid production in already erupted teeth of children and adults. We administer fluoride at medically safe levels, only as much as needed to do the job.
Mouth-guards – Custom-fitted mouthguards help prevent tooth damage from such disorders as clenching and bruxism, and from damage potentially caused by contact sports.

Fillings – The most common type of restoration, fillings replace tooth material lost to decay. We use natural-appearing composites for new fillings and to replace unhealthy old mercury amalgam fillings. [PHOTO]
Crowns – A dental crown is a tooth-shaped cap placed over the tooth to restore its shape, size and strength, and to improve its appearance. When cemented in place, crowns fully encase the entire visible portion of a tooth at and above the gum line. They may be used to protect a weak tooth, hold together parts of a cracked tooth, restore a tooth that has been severely worn down or broken, to support a tooth with a large filling, to cover misshapen or severely discolored teeth or a dental implant, or hold a dental bridge in place. Bonding – Bonding is the application of tooth-colored composite resin to repair a decayed, chipped, fractured or discolored tooth. The resin can be shaped and polished to match surrounding teeth. The procedure is called “bonding” because the material bonds to the tooth. Bonding is among the easiest and least expensive of cosmetic dental procedures. Most often, bonding is used for cosmetic purposes to improve tooth appearance. It also can be used to close gaps between teeth, as a cosmetic alternative to amalgam fillings, or to protect a portion of the tooth's root that has been exposed when gums recede. [PHOTO]
Bridges – Dental bridges literally bridge the gap created b
Gums & Bone

Care for the basis of all oral health.
Your gums and the bone beneath them are the structures that support your teeth, and their health is as important as that of your teeth themselves. Some people are born with oral structures that either haven’t fully developed, or have grown in such a manner as to be obstructive to proper chewing, breathing or speech. Dr. Weglos can correct these bone and gum issues with the most advanced procedures, implemented as quickly and painlessly as possible.

Scaling/Planing – Scaling and root planning is the standard periodontal cleaning you receive during a regular checkup, which is performed with a dental pick. It is the removal of dental plaque and calculus that can cause inflammation that may lead to receding gums and infection.
Crown Lengthening - Dental crown lengthening is the removal of gum tissue, bone or both to expose more of a tooth's structure. This may be necessary if you’ve broken a tooth at the gum line, if a tooth has severe decay and if there’s not enough tooth above your gums to support a crown.
Bone Graft – This procedure is generally done to restore the jawbone after damage due to tooth loss from gum disease or trauma. It can also be a step in maintaining bone structure after tooth extraction, and as a preparation for implants.
Frenectomy – This simple procedure removes the frenulum, a small connective tissue that attaches the upper lip to the upper gums, or the tongue to the bottom of the mouth. These procedures can restore full movement of the tongue or detach the upper lip from direct gum contact to allow the mouth to move naturally and provide enough access for proper regular cleaning.
Gum Tissue Graft – Also called a gingival graft or periodontal plastic surgery, this term covers a variety of procedures intended to cover ex
Orthodontics

These are not your mother’s braces.
Orthodontics concern the treatment of malocclusion (improper bite), which may be caused by tooth irregularity and/or disproportionate jaw relationships. Left untreated, this condition can lead to speech impairment, headaches and other pain, even the inability to eat properly. Orthodontic treatment may focus solely on dental displacement, or can deal with control and modification of facial growth, depending on individual symptoms.
Regardless the cause, orthodontic appliances or “braces” are no longer the monstrosities your parents may remember from their youth. Modern orthodontia offers several options that are far less intrusive, painful and inconvenient. Let Dr. Weglos guide you through your options after an exam, so you can choose the option that’s just right for your situation and lifestyle.

Invisalign
The most well-known and popular of contemporary bite correction methods, Invisalign uses a custom-made series of clear plastic aligners created just for you. These aligner trays are smooth, comfortable and virtually invisible, worn over your teeth. Wearing these aligners will gradually and gently shift your teeth into place, based on the exact movements your dentist or orthodontist plans out for you. There are no metal brackets to attach and no wires to tighten. You just pop in a new set of aligners approximately every two weeks, until your treatment is complete. You’ll achieve a great smile with little interference in your daily life. The best part about the whole process is that most people won't even know you're straightening your teeth.
Metal Braces
Traditional metal braces are indicated in cases where the needed correction is unusually severe, such as underbites, overbites, cross-bites and other issues that require strong, rigid correction. Modern metal braces are far less intrusive and unc
